For students

Your first paper, supervised for free

If you are a student anywhere in the world, I will supervise and co-author your research paper at no cost to you. A peer-reviewed paper is what scholarship panels and Masters or PhD admissions weigh, and it is hard to get right on your own.

Why a paper

What a paper does for an application

It does not replace grades, references or a good statement. It adds the one thing they cannot show.

Scholarships

Panels read for evidence that you can do independent work. A peer-reviewed paper is one of the clearest pieces of that evidence you can attach.

Masters and PhD admission

Admissions committees, PhD ones above all, look for research potential. A paper shows you have been through a whole study and a round of review.

Your career

Engineers, analysts and researchers all get asked what they have built or found. A paper with your name on it is a good answer.

No paper guarantees a place or an award. It strengthens an application; it does not decide it. Read how a research paper helps a scholarship application for the longer, honest answer.

Eligibility

Who can apply, and what free covers

You can apply if

  • You have a valid student ID: school (A/L), undergraduate or postgraduate, or you graduated in the last 12 months
  • You are anywhere in the world
  • You are under 18 and a parent or guardian agrees
  • You will give the work steady weekly time

Free means

  • My supervision, from question to submission
  • Co-authorship, where I genuinely contribute
  • Study design and the ethics application
  • Review and rewriting of every draft
  • Guidance through peer review

Free does not cover

  • Open-access article charges, where a venue has them
  • Conference registration fees and travel
  • Costs of the study itself, such as participant incentives or software, which I raise before you spend

Some good venues charge nothing at all. I will tell you about any fee before you commit.

How selection works

Limited places, decided by the idea and the effort

I take 6 students each intake, because supervision is my own time. It is not first come, first served and it is not a lottery.

  1. 1

    You apply

The form, a few sentences on your idea, and a photo or scan of your student ID.

  2. 2

    I check your ID

Only to confirm you are a student. It is deleted once I have decided.

  3. 3

    I read your idea

Is it a real question, can it be answered with what you can access, and will you give it the time?

  4. 4

    I reply by email

Places are limited to 6 each intake, so the answer is a yes, a not-this-time or a question.

What I expect of you

You do the work. I make it publishable.

Time

Steady weekly hours for many months. A paper is not a weekend job, and journals are slow.

Writing

You write your sections and rewrite them after my feedback. I rewrite too, but I do not ghost-write.

Honesty

You report what the data shows, including when it is disappointing. A modest true result beats a big false one.

Credit

Authorship follows contribution and is agreed in writing at the start, so nobody is surprised at the end.

Straight answers

No guaranteed acceptance.

Peer review decides, and it is right to. What I control is the quality of the work and the choice of venue, so the odds are as good as they honestly can be. That is the whole offer, and these are the rules it runs on.

  • Reputable venues only

IEEE, ACM, Springer, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, arXiv preprints. Never a predatory or pay-to-publish journal, whatever the deadline.

  • Authorship follows contribution

ICMJE and COPE norms. I co-author only where I genuinely contribute, and funding and competing interests are declared in the paper.

  • Fees are separate

Open-access article charges and conference registration fees are paid by the authors. I tell you before you commit to a venue that has them.

  • Ethics before data

A study with human participants gets ethics review before any data is collected. Participant data is handled under Sri Lanka's PDPA, and GDPR where it applies.

  • Your data is yours

A business keeps its data and its findings. NDAs are available before the scoping call, not after.

  • No paper mill

I will not write a paper for you, sell authorship or invent a result. If the data does not support a claim, the claim goes.

Questions

What students ask before they apply

Yes. A student with a valid student ID pays nothing for my supervision, co-authoring, study design, review or help with peer review. Places are limited to 6 per intake. What is not included is anything a venue charges: open-access article charges and conference registration fees are paid by the authors, and I tell you about them before you commit to a venue.

Apply for a place this intake.

A paragraph on your idea and a photo of your student ID. I read every application myself and reply by email.
