From a question to a published paper
Six stages. I am with you for every one before the last, and the last belongs to the reviewers.
- Stage 1
Question
We turn an interest into a question that data can answer and a gap the literature really has.
- Stage 2
Study design
Method, measures, sample and the ethics application, settled before anyone is asked a single thing.
- Stage 3
Data and user study
The study is run, the data collected and analysed with statistics you can defend in front of a reviewer.
- Stage 4
Manuscript
Drafted together. You write your parts; I rewrite, restructure and check every claim against the data.
- Stage 5
Peer review
I help pick the venue, you submit, and we answer the reviewers together, comment by comment.
- Stage 6
Published
Accepted, formatted and out under the authors' names, with a record anyone can check.
Eight things, done by me
Not a template and not a writing service. A working collaboration with the person whose name is on the supervision.
Supervise
A named supervisor who reads every draft and tells you what a reviewer will say first.
Co-author, where I contribute
I join the author list only when I genuinely add to the work, never as a favour or a fee.
Review and rewrite
Structure, argument, claims against evidence, the abstract that gets a paper read.
Design the study
Research questions, method, measures and the ethics application, before any data exists.
Run the user study
Recruitment, protocol, sessions and consent, run properly so the result can be trusted.
Collect and analyse data
Clean data, the right test for the question, and results reported the way reviewers expect.
Choose the venue
A reputable journal or conference that fits the work, matched to your deadline and your goal.
Walk you through peer review
Submission, reviewer comments, the response letter and the revision, step by step.
No guaranteed acceptance.
Peer review decides, and it is right to. What I control is the quality of the work and the choice of venue, so the odds are as good as they honestly can be. That is the whole offer, and these are the rules it runs on.
Reputable venues only
IEEE, ACM, Springer, Elsevier, Taylor & Francis, arXiv preprints. Never a predatory or pay-to-publish journal, whatever the deadline.
Authorship follows contribution
ICMJE and COPE norms. I co-author only where I genuinely contribute, and funding and competing interests are declared in the paper.
Fees are separate
Open-access article charges and conference registration fees are paid by the authors. I tell you before you commit to a venue that has them.
Ethics before data
A study with human participants gets ethics review before any data is collected. Participant data is handled under Sri Lanka's PDPA, and GDPR where it applies.
Your data is yours
A business keeps its data and its findings. NDAs are available before the scoping call, not after.
No paper mill
I will not write a paper for you, sell authorship or invent a result. If the data does not support a claim, the claim goes.

Dr. Yasas Sri Wickramasinghe
I have done this from both sides of the desk: running user studies in a research lab, shipping research-led products in industry, and now teaching and supervising. I know what a reviewer looks for and what a product team can actually measure.

From your A/Ls to your first paper
Most students meet a teacher for one exam. Here the person who marks your A/L paper is the one who gets you ready for university, and the one who reads your first manuscript.

What people ask before they apply
Something not answered here? Say so on the application and I will reply by email. See also the free guides.
I supervise and co-author research papers and white papers in technology, and see them through to publication. That means shaping the question, designing the study, running the user study, collecting and analysing the data, drafting and rewriting the manuscript, choosing a reputable venue and walking the authors through peer review. It is a working collaboration, not a writing service.
Tell me what you want to publish.
A paragraph is enough. I read every application myself and reply by email.
